It was worth paying for the shipping box, fast service too. For some reason I just like the sound of my Gen 1 HomePod more than Gen2, and it would have costed a lot more to fix at Apple if they would even do it (they don't). Happy to have a working device again

My stereo pair of HomePods (1st Gen) died during an Apple update from the Home app. A lot of Googling gave me some ideas, but most said the cause was hopeless. I was able to get a factory reset on one of the pair, but not the other. So I just ordered a pair of 2nd Gen speakers, feeling kinda ripped off as I know the old pair wasn't damaged in any physical way. I kept the bad pod plugged in and kept trying to reset it. No luck. I took the good pod, put it in the laundry room and, happily, loved having good music in there. So much that I went to eBay to find a companion speaker of the 1st generation. Very high prices for used equipment, some that could possibly not work. But … here's the good part … my eBay search also included a posting about an inexpensive repair. I was intrigued, but cautious. Seemed to good to be true. I looked for the name of the company who listed it and that brought me here to the Minn-Tech site. I looked at all the possible problems that were repairable and found the exact diagnosis: Spinning Light Endless Bootloops. It felt great to have someone in the online space that felt my pain. And, a huge plus, it was something that Minn-Tech knew how to fix. So here I am. A happy customer. The repair was a little over $50 and for an extra $15 a postage paid shipping box was sent to me. Now, only one week later … I have the most awesome stereo and can rock out while folding towels and delicates. Thanks, Minn-Tech, for making my day, week, and years to come.

Googled the symptoms, saw YouTube videos on how to fix, honestly I would never be able to put it back together on first try, not to mention buying the right tools. Googled repairs in my area (Chicago suburbs), nothing. Came across Minn-Tech, what a find. For $69 (including shipping both ways!), Minn-Tech fixed the no power issue and replaced four ceramic DC filter capacitors as a preventive measure at no additional charge! Sent the HomePod on Tuesday 10/29 and was just delivered today, Monday 11/4. Works perfectly. Couldn't ask for a better result. Thank you Minn-Tech!!! OMG! I am absolutely delighted at the OUTSTANDING support and service for my out of warranty original Apple HomePod 1st generation! I purchased two of these the minute Apple enabled stereo pairing and never used them with Apple Music but as soon as I decided to use them together with a workaround app called Airfoil, I was able to use the HomePods with other audio sources. Then, one HomePod just died. It sat for almost two years just dead. Apple just stopped support and manufacturing of HomePod 1st gen. To get out of warranty support was almost foolish. Then, I found Minn-Tech!!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! The Best service! And Better support than Apple itself!! Apple just dropped the bomb on 1st gen then, years later introduced 2nd gen that are not compatible with the 1st gen! WTH? Minn-Tech brought my 1st Gen back to life in DAYS!!! I am so blown-away at the Better-than-AppleCare service of my HomePod 1st gen even when it was in-warranty!! (Shhh. Don't tell anybody but I know Apple product support better than many… 17+ years experience!) Minn-Tech service I would recommend to ANYONE I know having HomePod issues out of warranty. My first generation Homepod fell from the kitchen countertop and could not play the bass. Minn-Tech repaired it and went the extra mile to conduct further repairs. Here is the extract of their post-repair email: "Your HomePod has been fully repaired, updated to the latest iOS, and was bench-tested overnight. Here is what we replaced on your HomePod: – The Schottky barrier diode on the amp board that causes "no-power" issues is preemptively replaced before it fails. – We replaced the entire outer shell with an original spare together with the internal frame ring that supports the woofer. Both were irreversibly damaged due to a prior physical impact. Additionally, as a courtesy, while your amplifier board was out, we replaced four ceramic DC filter capacitors as a preventive measure. The old ones were still functional but were aging and losing their ability to hold charge, and over time they are known to cause the woofer to malfunction." It now works as new. All along, the process was fast, communication was clear and constant, and the price reasonable. I fully recommend Minn-Tech for all first generation Homepod-related needs!

When compared to other companies that offer the same repair services, Minn-Tech is in a class above and beyond all others. There is another “company” that streams its repairs on “YouTube” but it is slow and/or unresponsive to requests. Minn-Tech was the exact opposite! All of my questions were answered within one business day or less and the total turn around time from placing the order to receiving my repaired HomePod(s) was about 1.5 weeks. Their work is so good that you are left to wonder if they ever even dismantled your HomePod to repair it or did they just wave a magic wand over it. I sent them 5 HomePods with various issues (totally dead/no power or flashing volume lights) and now my home is filled with the awesome sound that comes from these speakers. Thanks to Minn-Tech for stepping up and providing an awesome service that should be the standard for all other companies attempting to do the same. This company was great! I have a first generation HomePod that had been randomly making loud pops and eventually one day, it was completely dead and wouldn’t power on. I started looking for a repair shop locally because I didn’t really wanna ship my HomePod off, but there was no one here in Kansas City that I felt was competent enough to complete the repair. Prior to submitting my repair, I called and was surprised to actually talk to a live human being, who answered all the questions I had. I shipped my HomePod off on a Tuesday afternoon and had it back the following Monday afternoon completely repaired. My HomePod is now back to working like it did when it was brand new and the care they took with disassembly, repair, reassembly, and shipping my unit back is phenomenal. You would never be able to tell that it had been disassembled and repaired by looking at it. I would definitely recommend Minn-Tech if you’ve got a dead HomePod.

What a clutch find! My HomePod was flashing the volume buttons and I thought it was the end of the line for it. I found minn-tech after doing some research online about how to fix the issue and these guys did not disappoint. Sent my HomePod out they let me know what was wrong with it (eroded node, from oxidation) corrected my issue and sent my HomePod right back.(Took a week roughly all together. I sent out my HomePod on a Monday from FL to MN it got to them Friday they had it shipped back out on a Monday and I got it back Thursday) . A $60 fix for a speaker I spent $300 on was well beyond worth it for me! If you are having any issues with your HomePod take it from me do not hesitate to use these guys. I NEVER EVER write reviews but these guys did right I had to leave them a review and I hope this helps someone out there who is searching on how to fix their HomePod look no further you’ve found your answer. I happened to find minn-tech.com when googling about recycling my HomePod. I'm so glad I found them! The process was super easy. My HomePod died on me after updating to 18.1. It would show no sign of life, even when connected to power. I called Minn-Tech and was given the reassurance I needed to purchase the $69 option to fix my HomePod. They helped me figure out the best way to pack the HomePod for shipment, updated me when they received my HomePod and the condition it arrived in, and told me what the issue was and what they did to fix it. The whole process took exactly a week to ship out and for them to fix and ship it back to me. They also replaced additional parts with no additional charge that were worn for preventative maintenance known to cause the subwoofer to fail. I just received my HomePod last night, and it is moving and grooving in my stereo pair. I highly recommend Minn Tech if you're looking for an easy way to fix your HomePod that wont break your bank.

Excellent service! I sent in my original HomePod because the volume + and – buttons were constantly flashing. Minn-Tech quickly diagnosed the problem and found that the top control board was damaged. They replaced it with an original spare part and completely fixed the issue. The manager was very friendly and responded to all of my questions very quickly, which I really appreciated. The repair itself only took a few days — honestly, the longest part of the whole process was just the shipping time. My HomePod is working normally again, and I’m very happy that I was able to repair it instead of replacing such a great speaker.
